What the Industry Analyst does for you

  • Produces a monthly industry report

A cited, branded report on market structure, demand, technology, regulation, leading indicators, risks and opportunities, with clear implications for your business.

  • Keeps a curated source list

Maintains the industry bodies, publications, datasets and regulators worth reading, and scores each source for quality and usefulness over time.

  • Separates evidence from opinion

Every report shows what the evidence says, what is inference and what is still uncertain, so you know how much weight to put on each point.

  • Tracks change month on month

Each report compares with the last one, so you can see which trends are building, which are fading and what is new.

  • Delivers to your shared drive

The finished report goes to your shared drive folder. If delivery fails, the report is kept and you are told clearly.

  • Improves its method every run

Records which sources were useful, where the gaps were and what to correct, so the next report is sharper.

How the Industry Analyst differs from reading the trade news

Reading the trade news means a stream of articles and no way to tell how solid each one is. The Industry Analyst reads a curated, scored list of sources each month and turns it into one cited report. It labels evidence, inference and uncertainty, shows what changed since last month and spells out what it means for you. The strategic call stays with the Leadership Strategist.

From your request to a finished result

It runs inside your Ai1 system and works in the tools you already use. You ask, it works, it reports, and it stops for your OK where it matters.

How the Industry Analyst works: you ask through the Comms Hub and Ai1 runs the steps: load the base, research deeply, synthesize, publish and deliver and learn. It returns a monthly industry report.

What it won't do

Example: monthly industry report

Example with a fictional company. Names, people and figures are invented to show the agent's output. Any resemblance to a real company or person is unintended. Industry facts are real and cited with their sources.

What it was asked: What changed in our industry this month?

Example report
Monthly industry report cover for a fictional kitchen and bath remodeler, with four headline numbers (home improvement spending down an estimated 10.2 percent on a year earlier, a 7.03 percent 30-year mortgage rate, a remodeler sentiment index of 61 and 74 percent seeing supplier price rises) and three findings.
This month in brief
Month-on-month table comparing six industry signals with the previous edition, each tagged as deepened, new or steady, beside a line chart of the weekly 30-year mortgage rate rising from 6.49 percent in July to 7.03 percent in late September 2026.
What changed since last month
Three columns separating what the cited sources show, what the agent infers from them, and what is still uncertain, including a note that one forecast was left out because its source could not be checked.
Evidence, inference and uncertainty
Implications table for the fictional remodeler, a note that the owner makes the strategic call, a curated source list scored for quality and usefulness, the learning notes for next month, and the numbered list of cited sources.
What it means for you, and the sources

What it found: 3 findings, with the numbers

  • Spending on home improvements fell further: our estimate from Census data puts July about 10% below a year earlier, against about 7% in last month's edition.
  • Mortgage rates jumped from 6.66% to 7.03% in four weeks, the highest weekly reading this year, so borrowing to pay for a big remodel now costs more.
  • Remodelers still rate the market as positive (index 61), but large projects slipped three points and 74% report supplier price rises averaging 6.7% since March.

Following the guide's five steps, trimmed: the agent loaded a curated source list, ran one independent web check for gaps, then opened each primary source and checked every figure on the page itself. In place of a full deep research run, it pulled the official releases directly to stay inside the sample budget. It separated evidence, inference and uncertainty and compared each signal with the previous month's figures. Not covered in this sample: market structure, technology and the risks and opportunities register. The client, its revenue mix and the earlier edition are fictional; one university forecast found in the gap check was left out because its page blocked automated checking. Run date: .

Frequently asked questions about the Industry Analyst

What should a monthly industry report include?

How the industry is changing: market structure, demand, technology, regulation, leading indicators, risks and opportunities, with what it means for your business. The Industry Analyst also compares each report with the last one, so you can see which trends are building, which are fading and what is new.

It arrives once a month as a cited, branded report delivered to your shared drive. If it cannot be delivered, the finished report is kept and you are told clearly what failed.

How can I tell if industry trends research is reliable?

Look for citations and honest labels. The Industry Analyst cites every claim and separates what the evidence says, what is inference and what is still uncertain.

It works from a curated list of industry bodies, publications, datasets and regulators, plus deep research runs and targeted verification, and scores each source for quality and usefulness over time.

Why does market structure analysis matter to a small business?

Because shifts in how an industry is organised build slowly and then land hard. A steady monthly read means changes are noticed as they build, not after they land.

The Industry Analyst gives the evidence and implications; it does not give strategic recommendations. The Leadership Strategist turns them into recommendations.

Does the Industry Analyst track our competitors?

Any competitive tracking it holds is private and switched off until it is separately approved.

Battle cards and competitor responses belong to the Market Intelligence Analyst, so ask there for work on specific rivals. The Industry Analyst keeps to the industry as a whole.
