Website Chat Assistant: Visitors Answered From the Content You Approve

Website visitors get answers while they browse, from material you approved.

The Website Chat Assistant is the AI website chat assistant in the Ai1 platform by MyZone AI: it talks with visitors live on the pages you choose, answers from the documents you approved, says it is an AI at the start of every chat, captures interested visitors and hands harder questions to your team.

We'll walk through what the Website Chat Assistant will do for your team. Your Ai1 team will tell you when Website Chat Assistant is ready for your account.

Plans & pricing

  • Visitors helped while they browse

People ask in the moment and get a reply drawn from your approved material, rather than leaving to look elsewhere.

  • Leads you would otherwise lose

When a visitor is interested, the chat asks for their name and how to reach them, so your team can follow up.

  • Your team sees what people ask

Saved conversations show the questions visitors raise most, which tells you what your website is missing.

  • Clear about being an AI

Every chat opens by saying the visitor is talking to an AI, and a person is offered when it matters.

What the Website Chat Assistant does for you

  • Learns from your documents

Upload your FAQs, product sheets and policies. Your chat assistant is trained on that material and answers from it, not from guesses about your business.

  • Chats with visitors on your site

A small widget sits on the pages you choose and replies to visitors in plain, friendly language.

  • Captures interested visitors

When someone wants a quote, a demo or a call back, it collects their details and passes them to your team.

  • Hands over when it should

Questions outside the approved material, complaints and anything sensitive are passed to a person instead of guessed at.

  • Shows what visitors ask

A log of conversations and simple reports show common questions, gaps in your content and where visitors drop off.

  • Protects the widget from abuse

Access keys, reply limits and rate limits help keep the public chat working for real visitors and limit misuse.

How the Website Chat Assistant differs from a contact form

A contact form asks visitors to wait for an answer, and many leave to look elsewhere. The Website Chat Assistant replies in the moment, from the documents and pages you approved, and says from the start that it is an AI. Interested visitors leave their details for your team, upset customers are offered a person, and the conversation log shows which questions your pages still do not answer.

How this differs from the Customer Support Agent: For support emails that need a drafted answer and a person's approval, turn to the Customer Support Agent; the Website Chat Assistant talks with visitors live on your site from content you have approved.

How this differs from the Receptionist: the Receptionist picks up phone calls to your business, while the Website Chat Assistant answers visitors in a chat window on your website from content you have approved.

How this differs from the Help Center Writer: the Help Center Writer writes and updates the help articles on your site, while the Website Chat Assistant answers visitors live in chat from approved content such as those articles.

What it won't do

Example: website chat weekly report

Example with a fictional company. Names, people and figures are invented to show the agent's output. Any resemblance to a real company or person is unintended.

What it was asked: Put a chat on our website that answers visitors' questions from information we approve, collects details from people who want an estimate and passes the tricky questions to us.

Example report
Four summary tiles for conversations, answers from approved information, leads captured and handoffs to a person, above a table of the most asked questions with the approved answer used, what happened and volume bars.
The week in website chats
A chat transcript in which the assistant says it is an AI, answers a timing question, passes a structural question to the design team and collects contact details, next to the lead card sent to the estimator.
One conversation, from first question to estimate request
A table of 19 handoffs grouped by reason with a paraphrased example, the team member they went to and the median reply time, next to the list of question types always handed to a person and the handoff message.
Questions handed to a person, and why
A table of the most used approved answers with use counts, last approval date and status, next to a suggested new answer about paying in stages that waits for the owner's approval.
Approved answers: what was used and what to add

What it found: 3 findings, with the numbers

  • The website chat handled 212 conversations from 5 to 11 October; 166 were answered from information the owner approved and 19 were handed to a person.
  • 31 visitors left contact details and project basics, and 22 of them asked for a free in-home estimate, which went straight to the estimator.
  • Paying over time came up in 18 chats with only a holding answer, so a fuller answer is drafted and waits for the owner's approval before use.

This is an illustrative example of the weekly report Website Chat Assistant is being built to produce: the week's chats, one conversation start to finish, the questions handed to a person, and the approved answer library with suggested additions. It was written by hand from the agent's design for an invented kitchen renovation company, with invented visitors, conversations and figures. No real systems or people were involved, and nothing was published, sent or changed. Run date: .

Frequently asked questions about the Website Chat Assistant

Should a website chat assistant tell visitors it is an AI?

Yes. Visitors trust a chat more when they know who they are talking to. The Website Chat Assistant says it is an AI at the start of each chat and offers a person when a question goes beyond what it has been taught.

When should live chat on a website hand a visitor over to a person?

When a question goes beyond the material the chat was given, when a visitor is upset, or when anything sensitive comes up. The Website Chat Assistant passes those conversations to your team instead of guessing, and it is told never to promise refunds or delivery dates your material does not state.

How does an AI website chat assistant know about my business?

You train it on your own documents, such as FAQs, product sheets and policies. The Website Chat Assistant answers visitors from that approved material and offers a person when a question goes beyond it.

Will visitors know they are chatting with an AI?

Yes. Each chat opens by saying so, and visitors can ask for a person.

Can it collect leads?

Yes. When a visitor wants a quote, a demo or a call back, it asks for their details and sends them to your team.

What if it does not know the answer?

It is set up to say when your approved material does not cover a question and to offer a person instead. The conversation log lets you spot and fix any answer that misses.

How is it different from the Customer Support Agent?

The Customer Support Agent drafts replies to customer emails and a person approves each one. The Website Chat Assistant talks with visitors live on your website, from material you approved in advance.

Is the Website Chat Assistant available now?

Not yet. Your Ai1 team will tell you when the Website Chat Assistant is ready for your account. The Ai1 Chatbot Builder can already put a chatbot trained on your own documents on your website, and we can show it to you on a call.
