# Agent Manager: Build, Upgrade and Maintain Your AI Agents

> The Agent Manager is the AI agent builder in the Ai1 platform by MyZone AI: it spots where a new agent would help, builds each agent to the same standard on your Ai1 server, upgrades older agents and renames them safely, and every upgrade or rename can be undone in one step.

New agents built to one standard, and every upgrade can be undone.

## At a glance

- **You tell it:** The job a new agent should do, in your own words
- **Questions:** Asked only when the need is unclear; agreed roadmap builds skip the interview
- **Every new agent:** Built to the standard structure, registered on your Ai1 server and connected to its tools
- **Older agents:** Upgraded to the current standard one at a time, with a one-step undo
- **Renames:** Carried through everywhere the name appears, Slack included, and reversible
- **What it never does:** An agent's day-to-day work once that agent is live

## What the Agent Manager does

- **Spots where a new agent would help:** Looks at how your current agents are used, checks whether an idea really needs a new agent or belongs to one you already have, and ranks the ideas worth building.
- **Builds new agents to one standard:** Asks a few questions when the job is not yet clear, then sets the agent up the standard way, registers it on your Ai1 server and connects the tools it needs.
- **Upgrades agents built the old way:** Moves older agents onto the current structure safely and keeps a one-step undo on hand in case you want the previous version back.
- **Renames agents without breaking links:** Changes an agent's name everywhere it shows up, Slack included, and the rename can be reversed.
- **Checks quality before go-live:** Runs each new agent through a set of quality checks before it starts work, and logs any warning it finds so nothing is hidden.
- **Keeps one toolkit for every agent:** Keeps one plain page of the shared tools your agents use in every work session, such as a one-step start-up, a focus lock on the current goal, a progress board and a single card for anything that needs you. A read-only check shows which tools are installed on your Ai1 server.

## How the Agent Manager differs from building agents one by one

Agents set up one by one, each in its own way, are harder to look after as your team grows. The Agent Manager builds every agent from the same blueprint, registers it on your Ai1 server, connects its tools and runs quality checks before go-live. It also upgrades older agents and renames them everywhere, Slack included, with a one-step undo. Once an agent is live, that agent does its own work.

How this differs from the Skill Manager (https://myzone.ai/pages/agents/ai-skill-manager-agent): the Skill Manager builds the individual skills and tools agents use, while the Agent Manager creates, upgrades and renames the agents themselves.

## How it works

1. **Tell it the job** (Whenever you need an agent): You tell it what the new agent should do, in your own words.
2. **Questions if needed** (Only if the job is unclear): It asks a small number of questions only when the need is unclear. When a build is already agreed on your roadmap, it skips the interview.
3. **Build and register** (Once the job is clear): It sets up the agent to the standard structure and registers it on your Ai1 server.
4. **Connect its tools** (Before it starts work): It links the abilities the new agent needs to do its job.
5. **Ready to work** (When the build is done): The new agent is live on your Ai1 server and ready for you to use.

## When to use it

- **You keep asking your agents for something none of them owns:** It shows where a new agent would earn its place, ranked by evidence, so you choose what gets built next.
- **You need an agent for a new recurring job:** Describe the job, such as drafting a weekly newsletter, and get a properly set-up agent connected to its tools.
- **Some of your agents were built a while ago:** It brings them up to the current standard one at a time, with an undo kept ready for each.
- **An agent's name no longer fits what it does:** It renames the agent everywhere it appears, without broken links, and you can switch back if you change your mind.

## What you get

- A ranked list of agent ideas with the evidence behind each one
- New agents built to one standard and registered on your Ai1 server
- Older agents upgraded to the current structure, with a one-step undo
- Safe renames carried through everywhere the agent's name appears
- A quality-check record for each new agent before it goes live

## Example: agent roadmap and first build

Example with a fictional company. Names, people and figures are invented to show the agent's output. Any resemblance to a real company or person is unintended.

What it was asked: Look at how our six agents are being used and tell us which new agents are worth building next, then build the one we pick.

For a real client, Agent Manager counts how the existing agents were used over a stated window, maps the team by department, checks each idea is truly a new agent rather than a job for an agent the client already has, and scores it on six weighted measures; the build starts only when a person on the client's team approves an idea by number, and the agent goes live only after the quality gate passes. This example uses an invented company, so no real systems or records were read and every figure is made up. It is trimmed from the full format, which keeps up to 25 ranked ideas plus a reserve bench and lists every build stage with its evidence. Run date: 30 September 2026.

### What it found

- Two of eight departments had no agent, and staff asked the existing agents about stock and reorders 212 times in 62 days with no agent owning that work.
- The top idea, a Stock Manager scoring 84 of 100, drafts weekly reorder lists; a vaccine reminder idea went to your reception agent instead, and two ideas were rejected with reasons.
- After the practice manager said "build #1", the Stock Manager was built to the standard nine-part structure and passed all four quality checks, with one overlap warning logged, before going live.

## Guardrails

- Every upgrade and rename can be undone in one step, so a change never locks you in.
- A new agent goes live only after it passes its quality checks, and any warning is written down rather than skipped.
- It builds and sets up agents only. Once an agent is live, that agent does its own day-to-day work.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I build custom AI agents for my business?

Describe the job in plain words. In Ai1 by MyZone AI, the Agent Manager asks a few questions only if the need is unclear, builds the agent to the standard structure, registers it on your Ai1 server, connects its tools and runs quality checks before the agent starts work. It is the one consistent route for adding custom AI agents to your Ai1 server, so every new agent works out what it needs, is built the same way and is checked before it starts.

### Is it worth upgrading AI agents built the old way, and is it safe?

Agents built from one current blueprint act predictably and are easier to look after as your team grows. The Agent Manager moves older agents onto the current structure one at a time. Upgrading an agent you already depend on is safe: the upgrade keeps a one-step undo ready, so you can return to the earlier version if anything does not suit you.

### What does AI agent maintenance involve?

Keeping your team of agents healthy: bringing older agents up to the current standard, renaming agents whose names no longer fit without leaving broken links, and spotting work that no agent owns. Once an agent is live, that agent does its own day-to-day work. A rename updates the name everywhere the agent appears, Slack included, and can be reversed. The Agent Manager also looks at how your existing agents are used and gives you a ranked list of ideas for new ones; ideas that belong to an agent you already have are pointed there instead.

### How is the Agent Manager different from the Skill Manager?

The Agent Manager creates and maintains the agents themselves: it builds them, registers them, connects their tools, checks them and keeps them up to the current standard. The Skill Manager builds the individual skills and tools those agents use. They work as a pair.
